Called today with a N. Carolina phone number 980 337-3368 wanting to talk to the previous owner of my phone number. Told them had wrong number and told them remove number from their list.

Completely butchered my name. Which let me know it was someone I don't know and also probably someone wanting money. And it was. GOODBYE AND BLOCKED.

The caller couldn't pronounce my name correctly (I have a very common English last name (top 20 most common last name in the US) - kept asking me to verify the last 4 digits of my social and my address. I wouldn't until they told me what it was about. They kept saying it was a "private business matter". They put me through to a superior and I told her that I would not answer these questions until they told me what it was regarding and she rudely hung up on me. I called the number back and they wouldn't tell me what the company did. The address that they were trying to have me verify is my parent's address and I haven't lived there in ten years so I think that it has something to do with my student loan, which is paid on time. I think it must be some kind of debt consolidation firm or something.
