Just got a text message that nearly gave me a heart attack saying “Your Nelnet account hit default status soon Reply YES to postpone payments for 12 mos due to hardship but intend to repay. 8557208905 Reply STOP to OptOut” and then I realized I don’t have any loans through NelNet and also the message is formatted sloppily. Glad I found out for sure it was a scam, saved me an hour on the phone double-checking with the company.
They did not call me but they sent me a this txt msg....Have $ hardship on your student loans but intend to repay? Reply YES to Nelnet w your address to postpone payments for 12 mos. 8557208905 Reply STOP to OptOut
This phone number has been calling me for more than a month. I gave up and called them back. A recorder said that they are a "Mill Med Education Planning and Financing" agency but then a female answered and said, 'Thank you for calling Nelnet." Uh, Mill Med or Nelnet? Anyway, she apologized and said that they have the wrong person and she took my phone number off their list.
Student loan hardship / repayment
That phone number left me a message to check my email, Facebook or mail. That was scary.
This law firm says they are suing this bill collection company. http://www.fschulmanlaw.com/855-720-8905.phtml
