This number called and left a message saying they are Sharon from Wells Fargo.
“Hello my name is Sharon I'm calling from Wells Fargo ____ ___ _______ take over the apartment this message is for general _______ _______ please give us a call back at your earliest convenience at 855-731-2017 thank you…”
Did not call this number but called my bank directly and they see no fraud or activity on my account and they claimed they did not recognize the phone number as one of WF. Plus the scammers are using a app where they can change their number to any number and make it look like it’s coming from a legitimate establishment. If you get a call claiming to be from your bank or credit company, call the number on the back of your card or contact your bank directly.
1-855-731-2017 this is fraud this is not Wells Fargo
09/05/2020: This is a Real Number for Wells Fargo Dept that Investigates attempted Account Fraud or Acct Takeover. Someone contacted Wells Fargo with my SS# and attempted to find out info on an account I have there. They did not have the acct# so WF did not provide info for the acct even though they gave my ss#. WF rep called me from 855-731-2017 to investigate and inform me of what was attempted. I did not trust the call, went through everything, called back the 855#. Before completion on the call w/ 855#, rep set up Pass Word from me. I called WF 800# direct from bank statement, they asked for PW to discuss this acct, gave them pw I had just set up, all is good. The 855# appears to know more concerning the attempted fraud than those at the 800#.
This is 100% real. My Wells fargo account was compromised, i received an email, i went to the branch, the exact moment the email arrived, the phone call arrived, a live person left a voice mail. I have no idea why people are saying this is fake. It is not.
This is the number for Wells Fargo Account Takeover, they call when they suspect our accounts have been accessed by a scammer. If you don't trust them just call the 800 number on your debit card or go into a branch, the banker can confirm this is legit.
