The caller insinuated that he was calling from Microsoft and that they received information that my computer was unsafe.
A William Smith (Indian accent) asked for Greg Mattis. Mr. Smith advised me that they had been receiving many reports of technical errors and warnings from my computer. I immediately identified it as a Scam and played along to see if I could get some information. Mr. Smith ordered (?) me to enter some code into my browser: Tried to get me to put some address into the browser: TEAM????
Then I said (approximately):
OK. Um. This is very complex. I Am Going To Record These instructions. Can you give that to me again please?
and heard no objection.
Mr. Smith then claimed he was from the 24/7 PC Care Technical Department, on behalf of Microsoft, from New York, and could fix my computer for a nominal cost. Could not understand his accent. He passed the call off to his manager, Elvis Presley, who insulted me when I asked if he was Hindi or Bhudist or Muslim. I said Do not call back. This applies to all Affiliates and Associates.
Heard only a fast busy signal on callbacks.
