I just received the call also. Immediately, I checked the number out and these posts helped verify my suspicions. Thanks everyone for your posts. "This call is to inform you that the IRS is suing you. To get more information call our department at 8558747597. I will repeat the number 8558747597." I called back but the number was busy.
Total Phishing scam...but I did try to have a little fun by messing with them...lol
IRS Phishing Scam: IRS is filing a lawsuit.
This is a phishing scam. The IRS does not 'robo-call' people about tax issues. If there is an issue with your returns, they will contact you via written correspondence. Moreover, there is no case number listed, meaning that there would be no way to look you up. If you receive a call from this number, ask for a name and badge number and then contact the IRS: https://www.irs.gov/uac/report-phishing
"The reason of this call is to inform you IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call [Anita Neatly] on our department number 855-874-7597. I repeat, the number is 855-874-7597. Thank you."
Number is disconnected as of 17:00 PST.
