It was a man claiming to be calling from Windows IT Support. He is stating that they have been receiving signals from my computer saying there were suspicious downloads and they wanted me to log in and give them permission to remote connect to my PC and "troubleshoot" these downloads. When I asked him what type of computer I had and what dates they got error reports, he gave me some bull** answer and I told him I'm not stupid I know he's trying to scam me somehow and never to call this number again or I would report them. they want to connect to your pc and give you a virus. Do not let them!!!
They called 4 times earlier today and the only person who was home didn't answer. No message left. Google shows its a spam number so I added it to blocked callers list. Call log shows they tried calling 10 more times after that, though of course it never rang.
I answered the phone and found someone trying to "Socially Engineer" me by getting me to install a remote access utility on my computer. Fortunately, I work in the information Security area and know not to install these types of programs on my system as they ultimately install a "Back Door" in your computer to steal data in the future (Bank Info, SSN, Identity, etc.).
this # called at 9:42 pm. last night and shows an 800 # that's calling, however my caller id said the # is this 855-890-2181. I have not answered it and this is the 8th or 9th time they have called also no message is left just a hang up. How long does this go on before they stop, anyone know? Thanks
