I received a call from 855-918-0453n stating I needed to call to cancel my warranty subscription or my account will be charged $399.00. I don't have any warranty's on anything and have not signed up for any warranties. I attempted to call the number back, it rang 3 times & went to a busy signal. I believe this is a scam.
called me and I have never signed up for any service and my laptop is new also. He told me I signed up for it last year. I told him I will not give him any bank numbers and he wanted me to get onto my computer I told him no way. He told me I sounded confused! Ha hung up immediately.
Rcvd a voicemail from this number. VM recording sounds like it's already about halfway thru. All I hear is "Your account will be charged $399 unless you call 855-948-0449". As a single mom living paycheck to paycheck, I panicked. Called the number they gave and it was inactive. Called back using the number they called me on and was told I had signed up for a firewall service 2 yrs ago and the subscription was up for renewal. If I don't cancel, they will charge my account $399 to continue service. The man on the phone had a heavy East Indian accent and the background noise literally sounded like the movie set for Boiler Room. Homeboy wanted me to DOWNLOAD a cancellation document. I asked for the name of his company and was told "Windows cancellation Dept representing MacAfee" How is that a company name? I asked repeatedly that some documentation be sent to my email. This was refused. Spoke with a "supervisor" and was given the same explanation. He walked me through checking for firewall settings on my control panel. (Hit control r, blah, blah, blah). I read off to him my standard security settings on my laptop. He triumphantly replies: "See you do have the firewall service!" Then asks, "Do you want to cancel or continue svc?" He repeats this question about 3 times with an aggressive tone. So, here's the kicker, I just got a new laptop from my boss last week. So, I told him that. NO WAY something I downloaded on my old laptop 2 yrs ago is showing up on this brand new laptop. He hung up on me!!! While I was on my laptop looking at the postings on THIS site, he called me back from this number 631-769-5655 based out of New York. I hung up on him. Unbelievable.....needless to say I will be watching my accounts like a hawk!
