Just received this call myself. It was a recorded message introducing itself as James Caston from the US Treasury. It says that they are attempting to contact me in relation to a federal crime and that failure to contact them will constitute as refusal to go before a court or grand jury. It ended with "don't ignore this message, contact us to let us help you". The recording repeats about 5-6 times before hanging up, if they call again I'll grab my voice recorder....

These are scare tactics, several sites on the web point out this scam artist. Apparently it was more prevalent in December (it's April 2016 now). The US Treasury or any US Government department will NEVER try to contact you by phone because that does not constitute a substantial enough notice by US Law. They will send you multiple letters via regular mail.

I'm not calling them back. You shouldn't either.

They left me a message last week and I called back out of curiosity because I know there was no issue with our taxes from 2010. After reading all the comments, you would think these scammers would use different info...everything was the same, their name, 2010 tax return, I owed $6,930 and if it wasn't settled, they will have the cops come arrest me within 45 min and I would go to jail for 6 months without bail...oooh! I'm scared! Indian decent also and when I asked them to verify my and my husband's ss#, they refused. He told me to get a criminal attorney and hung up. Looked up the number on line and realized it was a scam. My husband and I did a conference call back and he was posing as an official from the State Department. The scammer got flustered and hung up. I'm reporting them to the IRS scam site, tigta.com and file a scam complaint under IRS impersonation.

Yes! Got a call from James Caston from the U.S. Treasury. There is an enforcement action against me. The phone number was856-718-8908. He very politely repeated the number and said..."Help us help you." Sounded like a recording.

Eventually claimed someone would be at my door within 45 minutes to arrest me, I laughed out loud and asked if I should bake the person cupcakes for when they arrive, "James" then hung up.

Just got the same call (left message), I called back 856-718-8908 and was told a warrant was being issued for my arrest for tax evasion on a 2010 tax . Very convincing and professional scam stating I owed $6,930.. I googled the number was brought here! I stated to the man on the phone (also Indian accent which had the sound of being in a call center) that I was referencing the number as a scam and he promptly hung up on me.

They have called me twice, and I have called them twice and told them I look forward to them going to jail. Quite the slew of profanity that came out of his mouth at that. I suggest we flood them with calls. I cannot help wondering, though, why our government does not trace the calls and go after some of these people to make an example of them to everyone else. So much time collecting phone data, and they can't find one spammer impersonating the IRS?

I received two calls today: one at 9:30 am today, from #856-718-8908, person gave name as James Caston stating that I owed IRS $6,930.00 and if I don't settle this account they will place charges against me. Again I recived another call at 3:57 PM. Again they wanted to settle with me for $6,930. This time it was a guy with a foreign accent, his name was Brian Spector with a phone # 856-718-8908. He said they were going to have the marshall to come out and arrest me. I was so very afraid that I called IRS and was informed that this is a scam.

I received a call from 856-718-8908 I asked for his name Brian Spector badge ID # 117287,. This is the 3rd time I have been contacted. This time after a conversation with Brian who could not answer my questions other then that I was back on my taxes from 2010 I asked to speak to his supervisor. He said he couldn't transfer me I then said well first of all this sounds like a call center and IF this was really the IRS that I would be transferred at least a dozen times if I requested it. AND the IRS would never call they would only send letters. He then hung up on me!! SCAM
