What good is this web site if they can't protect my home phone?

I receive anywhere from 2-5 calls from this company per week at my job. Every time i answer the phone, they don't say anything and just hang up. This has been going on for months.

These "people" from call me at least once a day. Caller ID says "Portfolio Recov." If they are indeed a collection agency, they are barking up the wrong tree. We do not have any outstanding past due debts. I will be reporting them & all the other numbers they have called me with to the FCC.

This morning I received the fourth call since last week from Portfolio Recovery. Each time I block the number, each time they call with a different number. They never leave a message. I have NO debts, neither did my husband. It is my theory that they're calling to try to find the former occupants of our house. The phone is my land line--I don't receive calls from them on my cell. We've had debt collectors hounding us for 17 years now. It doesn't help to tell them there is no one at this house with that name. ARGH!

The National No Call list won't do anything, because they don't handle debt collector, political, or survey calls. ARGH!

Said they were Portfolio Recovery for Capital One. She asked for my husband by name. I said he wasn't home and she asked for my name. I gave it to her...stupid...anyway, she said if I am his wife that she can give me the information. She started telling me that he owes $1000-something in past debt. I stopped her from talking and said you have the wrong person as we don't have any late debts. She said is your husbands last 4 social ending in ----? I told her no it is not...and it really wasn't his number. She quickly said ok, must be someone else and then hung up. My husband does have a fairly common name I suppose. In fact his last job, he worked with a guy with the same name and the two of them were always getting confused by different departments. I think this caller is probably legit and now that they know they have the wrong person, fingers crossed they stop calling.
