Dear b,
Got you beat. I graduated college in 1958.
Left a voicemail saying it was Carol Fields regarding a Federal Student Loan and they left a reference number. I don't have any outstanding student loan. Seems like a scam to me.
Called and left a message... this is the transcript of the message "Yes this is Carol Fields so I am calling in reference to your federal student loan um I need to discuss your repayment options with some of the things that are taking effect recently. So if you could be sure to give me a call back my number is 866-283-5115 and um I'm going to give you a reference number if you would please have this ready when you call back it will make things so much easier your reference number is..."
Claimed to be Carol Fields wanting to talk about student loan options left a voicemail with this number. The number when she called was listed as restricted which is why I did not answer. Legitimate government phone calls will never show as a restricted number.
To echo what others have said, this person left a message claiming to be "Carol Fields" and said I needed to call back to discuss my federal student loans. She left a reference number for a return call. I paid off my loans 13 years ago, so this is definitely not legit.
