They have called me daily for over a week and just don't give up. They have called a various time of the day trying to get me to answer no luck,,,,
What I suspectEd that is a third party telemarketing contracted by cibc and call to offer things but they just kept calling very annoying.
They called daily, me non stop for weeks. I finally told them I'm not interested and blocked the number. At that time I thought they were legit, as all they said was I qualified for a debt reduction loan, which I didn't need.
After blocking them on my cell, they started calling my work, this is when I realized it was fishy, as I only have my cell number on my account. I called from work and called the person on the phone out. Advised them I called CIBC this morning and they informed me they had not called me and it was indeed a scam.
Beware, they have put more effort into their scam than most. Always call the number on your cards or drop into a branch if in doubt. Your bank will never call you and ask you to verify who you are.
Someone claiming to be calling from CIBC Visa, offering to transfer my current balance into an open loan at a lower rate of 10% interest. I would just need to answer a few pre-qualifying questions, then the final paperwork would need to be signed at my local branch. He knew my balance, so I'm worried, and he was also very convincing that he's legitimate. I gave no info and called CIBC Visa to check if this is a legitimate offer - it's not. Beware - these guys don't sound as phony as all the rest but they're a phishing scam!!
