I am current on all financial commitments; debt is extremely minimal.
Found missed call list. Caller ID says Portfolio Recovery. I've never heard of this outfit. From other comments, this looks like a scam.
Good grief! I've counted 16 numbers that I've found
Debt collector trying to harass me into a paying a debt that I don't owe. They intentionally buy bad debt for pennies and then use the tax-payer funded court system to try and intimidate people into paying the original amount. The court system is supposed to be for justice not to support a scam business model. Why do we allow that at public expense? They knew the debt was bad when they bought it. The laws that allow public money to support a business based on intentionally buying bad consumer debt are terribly outmoded.
This debt collection company buys delinquent accounts from other companies and entities. It then uses various tactics to collect the debt from individuals including, but not limited to, harassing individuals with telephone calls and letters before filing lawsuits. According to the website, the company states, “We’re here to help you pay your debt.” Unfortunately, many times they forcibly obtain judgments and garnish bank accounts if you ignore them.
