At first I thought this was a scam too, but it actually is a collections agency used by Stanford Health- it was in regards to a bill I had with an outstanding balance. Everything turned out to be accurate and matched the number on the letter I was sent by Stanford a few days prior.

They said they were "state collection agency" and wanted me to verify my birth date. I refused and told them to send me a letter.

A woman named Jordan Windisch requested confirmation of my son's (recently turned 18) birthdate in regard to "sensitive & personal business matter." Said she needed confirmation from his mother/father/relative. She would not identify what business she represents, how the information would benefit my son, what state she is operating in, or provide any other information I asked of her. She said I could call back the number she called on so that I could understand better the business she represents. I did. "Christian" answered and in business-like manner, explained they are a "state collection servicing" organization operating out of Madison, WI. He said they would generate a notice via US Mail with the return address of only "Madison, WI." My son is an unemployed student with no debt, and has no affiliation with Madison, WI.

They said, well, we can give you your house number....like to show they are legit I guess? I said, if this is sensitive information, send me a letter in the mail!!!! IRS Scam? Could be.
