This is a call from Capital One Bank. It's a pre-charge off department calling customers who have an overdraft on their checking accounts. Basically, they're calling to make arrangements so the overdrawn account doesn't charge off.
When you call the number, they ask for personal information to be sure that they're speaking with the right person. Disclosing personal banking information without verifying they're speaking to the right party is against the law.
The 'Do Not Call' list doesn't apply for these calls, they're calling the phone number(s) supplied by the customers at the bank.
Received this call this morning on our answer machine. We DO NOT have an account with Capital One and never have, so this number CAN NOT be calling customers about overdrafts on their checking accounts.
scam, scam, scam
