I received 2 voicemails from this number claiming to be BMO calling about suspicious activity on my card. I called the phone # they said to call (it was on the back of my credit card and it was the same number they said to call) ... waited 20 minutes to speak to a customer service rep. When I did, she had to transfer me to a colleague because she couldn't see my accounts and transactions. I waited another 20 minutes and hung up in frustration. DISGUSTING SERVICE. You should be ashamed of yourself, BMO. I checked my accounts and don't see any suspicious activities. BMO makes more money than God and should hire more people to answer when they ask us to call in about fraud concerns. Horrible.
Yes I received a call today. Then my daughter called me to say it a fraud on a prepaid Master Card that she had purchased. They cancelled the card. My telephone number was on as a reference on her bank file, True call.
BMO Harris Bank is definitely a weird company in the way they handle their fraud communications. Twice they couldn't verify my id. The first time they said they'd call me back within 48-72 hours but did'nt, The second time they said they'd call me back to verify my number and did, but then said would have to turn it over to the team and call me back. 2 hrs. later they left a msg to call them back.
I just got the voicemail, and called them back. This is completely legit. They don't list the number on the website because it is only given out when there is a fraud concern. I am skeptical that the people who are claiming this is a scam ever actually investigated at all. They just made an assumption, and posted their uninformed opinions.
Definitely fraud. I called BMO fraud department and they had never called me.
Scam!
