Inmate call handled by a service contracted by the government run facility. Not a scam unless you do not know the inmate.
Fake inmate calls
All of you should understand this is a call from crooks..who run a "in prison" scam via their prison phone using specialized scamming equipment. It is designed to get you to believe you should help, send money..or they find a name of someone you know and want you to send money for bail or other nefarious personal gains... it is just a scam and not new either... just newer versions. Anytime you get non-descript info and goes no where..does not identify specifics and goes right for your credit card..you've go to learn these are scams. They've been around for a long while..Dont be puzzled...unclear? Get rid of em. Any momentary thing that does not make sense..drop it.. and don't continue to answer the phone.. every time you answer..they are getting the message that someone is there..and that is an invite to keep calling sensing sooner or later you'll give in. Come on..the world is full of this junk. Don't question these things. It is a waste of your time. Get on with your life. Use another number if you have one..to call out on.. If you do not respond.. after a few additional rounds, the robo system gives up. Get smart...used your intelligence. Keep it simple and real.

This is not necessarily a scam, it is a service to allow indigent inmates to call friends to let them know where they are, initially, and then to keep in touch until release. Just how much specialized scamming equipment can a guy fit in his or her three to a cell space?
