has been calling for about six months now. keeps asking for account number.

Same sort of scam to my mother to get her account numbers. Hopefully closed account before damage.

My 88 year old mother living in the west Georgia area received this call 08/04/11 in the afternoon. She said he "sounded nice". It was the same thing about receiving a new social security card. When I got to the PBX at my job, I dialed the number 866-535-0867 and got a generic "please wait, your call is very important to us" but no name of a company or anything to identify them. In just a moment, a woman with a strong Indian or Middle Eastern accent answered. When I said I was returning their call, she said "No one called you from this number" and she hung up.
My mother recently got a call saying that she had won 2.5 million dollars from a contest sponsored by Walmart, Walgreen and J.C. Penny. I researched that on the web and found lots of previous complaints, also. So my mother knows to hang up on people that she does not know or refer them to me from now on and I will probably purchase caller ID and the unique ring-tone for friends to help her judge these situations more effectively.
