Neil is right that it's DTE calling about your past due bill but the "Do-Not-Call" list doesn't apply to us since that's for telemarketers. It doesn't apply to a company trying to call you to get you to pay your past due bill.
Only way to prevent them from calling you would be not to have any phone numbers on file with DTE for your account. Then again, DTE won't let you have service without a valid phone number on file...

Just received the call... Gracie introduced herself as being with GTE ENERGY. When questioned, she would not provide any information... Suspected that she was calling to collect on an account.

I get calls from this number often, I suspect that it is a call center hammering me. Anyone else getting these telephone calls? If so please report them here thanks!
866-798-3827 is DTE Energy's bill collection. They often call and no one is on the other end do to their automated calling system. Don't worry though, they'll call back and back and back. Just send them a letter telling them that you are on the Do-Not-Call list and you do not want them calling you. They have to stop - by law - even if it's a legitimate collection call.
