Sounds like a collection agency. Do talk to a collection agency ever!!! Especially if you are on Social Security disability. SSDI cannot be garnished - the government will not allow SSDI monies to be garnished unless it is for child support or taxes. If you are on SSDI and have already told these bullies that you are on SSDI then just hang up. They already know that SSDI is uncollectible - that is why they are harassing you. Never ever Never talk to a collection agency. They have no legal rights anyway. Only a court can order money taken from your pay check or bank account. Remember that when someone calls you. A collection agency can only harass you. Since they work on commission, of course they will try to bully every penny they can. Unless you hear from a LAW FIRM, then just ignore these collection agency vultures. Unless you have been served IN PERSON with a summons and complaint, then there is nothing they can do. If you do get served and you are on SSDI, take your SSDI award letter and go to court on the date shown on the paperwork. Show the SSDI award letter to the attorney and the court. Collection agencies are a joke and no one should take them seriously. Just hang up and get a call blocking service of some kind.
