About two weeks ago, I received several calls on my Caller ID from 800-568-0162. After several calls from this number, the calls ceased, but then almost immediately, I started getting calls from 800-945-6596. Now, for the last seven days, my Caller ID screen indicates an average of seven calls a day from 800-945-6596 (I usually get 2-4 calls in the morning and then 2-4in the evening). These calls come in succession (about an hour apart). This pattern suggests to me that these are very likely automated calls.

It is interesting, I think, that when I used Google to search 800-568-0162 and 800-945-6596, that both of these numbers were linked to GE Money Bank. What is more, I have a spotless credit record, so I fully expect that this collection agency may not actually be trying to contact me - but rather trying to locate a delinquent customer who has somehow become associated with my name or telephone number.

About a year ago, I had similar harassment problems from two very notorious collection agencies (NCO FINANCIAL and MANN BRACKEN, LLP). They where attempting to locate a delinquent account. They harassed me daily for several months - so I finally made a formal complaint to my State Attorney General. After a two-month hassle, I finally received assurances from my Attorney General’s office that my telephone number had been deleted from these rogue collectors’ files. These calls did cease for nine months, but now it appears they are starting all over again.

I have done a very extensive search on Google for the telephone #s 800-568-0162 and 800-945-6596. So far, I have found only two postings that link these telephone numbers to NCO FINANCIAL. However, the tactics being used by 800-945-6596 are strikingly similar to those I experienced with NCO FINANCIAL and MANN BRACKEN, LLP.

I am wondering if there is anyone else out there who might suspect or that can link NCO FINANCIAL or MANN BRACKEN, LLP to telephone number 800-945-6596?

I am not defending GE Money here, but I find it very hard to believe that they would stoop to such low life practices. They would have too much to lose if they were discovered doing this. I believe it is very likely a ruse or fraud being used by a very disreputable collection agency

NCO SYSTEMS who are a very well known collection agency in PA have begun using fake numbers to dial. The number 1-800-849-2442 will appear. A Mr. Nichols comes on the phone which is their automated system advising to call the real number of 1-866-849-2442.

I am reseaching currently the legality of NCO using fake telephone numbers which when called back say it is not a working number. I believe that is not legal.

I have sent NCO a message via their contact info for new business advising that ALL CALLS will be recorded to my number, and called them advising it is an incorrect number they are calling. They called 10 min later again.

I have submitted a complaint to the Attorney Generals office and will be seeking a civil suit against them as I have their calls recorded.
Additionally I printer out the message sent to NCO, and the sucessful transmission receipt showing they had the message.

Call and complain, NCO needs to be put out of business for their pracitces.

Additionally I was not the person who they were looking for but the collection agent demanded personal info about my location.

She did not get what she wanted.

These people keep calling my place of work day after day. It is getting to be a problem with my employer. Can't someone shut them down. This is ridiculous. If I do have a debt out there, it's ages old and harrassing my work isn't going to get them anything, but me fired.
