Got a call from 866-849-3243 and when I answered - no one was there.

repeated calls from this number and there is never anyone on the line when I pick up the phone.

I am getting repeated calls and have called it back to block it, but they just call again in a few days The number they are calling is assigned to my virtual office number for my employer that rings at my house. What can be done?????

I average getting AT LEAST 3 calls per day from this number and I'm sick and tired of it. I've started holding on, hoping that somebody would get on the line so I could give them a piece of my mind, but nobody ever comes on line. It finally goes to a very fast "busy signal". If there is any way at all that you can prevent them from calling, I would be forever grateful. The information on my phone reads as follows:

Pre-recorded message telling me about a candidate for the Democratic party in my area.

So today 11/01/2008 alone I've had 15 calls (as of 2 pm) from 866-849-3243 from some political campaign about a race in the state of Arizona. These calls come every 45 minutes to my cell phone. For every single call, I've filled out an FCC 1088 complaint form filing for violation of a wireless cellphone. These advertisers/political action groups are not supposed to call cell phones.

The problem is, I don't think the FCC is actually ever going to do anything about it, but I'll keep filing the forms anyway for some kind of satisfaction.

Now what's humerous is that everytime a phone call comes in from 866-849-3243, I'm almost guaranteed to get another call from another number from the oposition right aftwerwards. So this political campaign is wasting double my minutes on my cell phone and costing me money with every call.

Will I ever get my wasted time and money back? You'd think in a time when the economy is so poor and people are saving every penny, these political hacks would think less about their shodd campaign tactics for mass marketing telemarketing auto-dialing, pre-recorded message political ads and more about how much this is costing the individual pocket book of their constituants to take these nusance and harassing calls.

What's even funniner, is that I abstenee ballotted over 1 month ago, so all of these calls are entirely wasted on trying to get my vote for or against. It was cast against a long time ago.

The John Altman campaign in Arizona is the source of this mess. Is he going to clean it up? He probably doesn't even have a clue that people are wasting tax payer's personal funds and cell minutes in his name. So beware calls from:

Merchant Circle is running a telephone marketing campaign, yet again. They started with spam and have moved to deceptive telephone calls that lie and try to scare prospective customers into signing up for services. These calls are often made in violation of the national do not call list and contain many messages including: "you have received a bad review", "You have received a review" and their newest addition, "there is a video about your company on merchantcircle.com". The truth is, these are all lies.

If you get one of these calls and check on the website, you will find out that there are no reviews for your business and that your business listing is often filled with incorrect information collected from across the net. Despite trying to contact them about the trouble, you will find that you can't get the issue fixed or the listing removed without joining the site and paying a fee. Even if you do join, the posts in their forums clearly indicate that they will not help with troubles.

Trying to contact them is an effort in futility. They have hidden all contact information and all phone numbers lead to a fax or voicemail which is never answered. I have done some research and found out who actually hosts their site. I contacted them and they seemed genuinely surprised to hear their was an issue. This is not surprising considering the trouble I had to go through to find out the information. I related what was going on and they seemed genuinely concerned. They asked that I send a complaint to them via email and include some of what I found. I did include slanderous reviews on the site, incorrect information links to revealing photos and much more. I also informed them that I was going to place this information on the net for others to use. They said that would be fine.

There is no business at my number! Kid leaving message sounds desperate; needs to join the Army, get some self respect.
