It is Sprint - and if you got the call, they're attempting to get the security deposit to activate the line.

I had to verify my application, yes - but nobody asked for my full SSN - - and if someone did, you should report the call to Sprint.

Calls are from Eastern Europe (I asked her), therefore the heavy accent - - but if you go to Sprint and dial the number on their homepage, you'll get the heavily accented Czech or Romanian operator in reply.

It's a small world after all.

Just got a call from a friend today about this. She just ordered Sprint service over the weekend and got a call from this number and another, 866-820-6241. Both were from people with thick accents asking her to verify information or else her order would be cancelled. They also tried to sell her additional lines. They had some of her information which confused her so she ended up giving them her SSN in full and other credit card info.
This sounded very odd so I called Sprint and they told me that 866-860-6241 IS NOT a customer service number of theirs. Furthermore, they reinforced that they would NEVER ASK for a full SSN. They only verify the last 4 numbers of any number they need. They put a fraud alert on her new account and I told my friend to put one on her credit.
Sounds like a phishing scam like we see all the time in emails. They get some info of your and call trying to get the rest and it was probably a coincidence that she just opened an account with Sprint. I suspect other carriers see a different number and get the same line. I hope that Sprint has not been compromised with web orders, but most likely it's just a mass calling scam.

Yesterday, received a call from Sprint stating they needed more information to process order. We did not order anything from Sprint. Said they needed to verify our identity, and like an idiot, we gave them a SS number. We immediately went to the bank and reported this and put a freeze on our 2 savings accounts. The bank gave us a phone number to call to report identity thief. We also ran our credit report to see if anything was on there and, luckily, there is nothing out of the ordinary. Today, another representative called, and repeated the same information. I told her that we had settled it and that Sprint had supposedly pulled the order and placed an identity thief on it.

Some weird call from someone claiming they are sprint trying to verify order details. Not sure if it was the real sprint or not though so I hung up.

Someone called me from this number claiming to be "Sprint". They called about an online order I purchased through Sprints website asking me for additional info. They asked for my phone number and I gave it to them, then they said "I'm sorry that number is not in our system, may I have your social?" I knew right then it was a scam, because Sprint doesn't ask for your entire social.

Don't deal with these people. They will scam you.
