What I do have is first hand experience and knowledge of these deceptive tactics from dealing with these types of organizations. I received a call from (866) 882-7666 and when I answered the phone, from my Pinger account on my iPhone, there was no one on the other end; this tells me they're using a robo-dialer. The software makes calls to a list of numbers, entered into the robo-dialer, and when some one answers the phone it rings the agent on the other end to notify them they have a live call. That's why there's a delay on the other side.
The robo-dialer can be programmed to hang up if they get a voicemail, or leave an automated message. Bay Area collections has to follow the Federal Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA), if they violate this they can be held accountable by law.
If you feel like you're being harassed by a collection agency you need to report them immediately. Also when they say this call will be recorded for quality assurance and training purposes you can prohibit them from doing so by declining to be recorded.. Under FDCPA regulations you have to give them permission. I'd advise you to get a recording device of your own, if you allow them to record you, and tell them you'll also be recording the call. They will have to also give you permission to record them. The shady or otherwise deceptive collection agencies that try and cut corners will deny you access to record them and the call will most likely be terminated on their end. I hope this helps you from being taken advantage of or threatened to give any money to these sharks circling your money.
To learn more about this law that protects you from collectors go to http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf thanks for sharing all of your concerns about the phone number: (866) 882-7666 and their hardcore tactics.
I wish all of you Happy Holidays and a safe New Year. Please keep the children and families in CT in your thoughts as we all try and heal from the physical, emotional, and psychological damage done to these families. The ripple effect is felt nationwide. Godspeed!

I don't know these people and I've asked them to stop calling me. I don't owe any money and I don't have anything in collections. they call my cell and my home constantly. they have even called my sisters house leaving messages for me to call saying someone may have used my social. I looked them up and found a lot of info that they could be scammers. they are bay area credit service out of California. I do not owe anyone anything.
Caller ID is Toll Free Call. It’s a landline. My case they want me (not a negro) to pay for the funeral of a negro reverand who died in 2000 per social security death list. Seems that his negro felon son who also died in 2003 per social security death list was too cheap to pay for his Dad's funeral. Since it means nothing to me I suggested that they go dig the ole boy up and repossess the casket to settle the debt.
