I have had a message left on my land-line saying that the IRS was going to put a lien on my property and seize accounts in the next 24 hours unless I contacted 866-978-6326. When I returned the call, there was an automated voice offering the website of the IRS and then a man with an Indian accent picked up. I explained the situation and he asked for my phone number, I gave it and he waited a moment, said my wife's name and asked to speak to my wife. I told him I could speak for her and he put me on hold. While talking to him, I could hear in the background other people talking, "a thousand dollars" was said loudly as an example, but it sounded like a boiler room. That and the Indian accent made me hang up. I thought it may be a scam and so I googled the number and got your site. Thanks so much for reassuring me. It's not like you can talk to the IRS.
Been receiving voicemails claiming to be the IRS and that they will be putting a lien on our home and accounts if we don't pay immediately.
A man with a heavy foreign accent calls my landline claiming to be from the IRS. He tells me I have to pay money or all my bank accounts will be seized by the IRS within the next 24 hours. He struggles heavily with English and became angry when I told him that I reported him and the phone number to the Federal Trade Commission. Almost became threatening.
Got that call today. It's a scam, As mentioned earlier to do return that call. The IRS only communicates by good old US Mail
Called as IRS officer- will seize all my assets unless I make payments within 45 minutes. If not, I will be arrested
