I am getting these calls aswell, I think that if we all started calling the number several times a day for a few days, it might just shut them down.

It's Capital One. I am up to date on my payments, so don't know why they're calling 4-5 times a day! So, I searched online and learned how to block their number from calling my cell phone (Verizon) and my home phone (Comcast). Just to be sure I wasn't blowing smoke, I went through all of my Capital One bills for 2010........they were all PAID and on time, some even earlier, for the requested amount or more. And the credit card expired in 2008. So there is no reason for them to harass me.

If you DO happen to pick up the phone when they call, first thing you say is: "This call is being recorded for evidence purposes." They will tell you they're not allowed to talk to anyone who is recording the conversation. (Ironic isn't it?) So then you tell them, "O.K. This is the end of the conversation then"

One way they get it is the banks. I made a point of giving my address and phone number to only one, the bank. Since I am not positive, I won't say the name of my bank. In a matter of 2 weeks, I received calls on my cell phone and mail in my mailbox. I switched to a post office box and changed my telephone number (unlisted). I check the P. O. Box once every few weeks and it is full of junk, but my mailbox isn't and I got rid of my expensive cell phone. I am extremely careful who I give my phone number to. close friends and family.
