An investigator kowalski called me regarding an in-law who would have no connection to my phone and left a detailed message for this person on my voicemail about charges being brought and that this person needed to contact them. And i called back and told them they were violating the law by leaving messages for this person on my phone.
So, I've been out of the Army since 2004, and someone called my Uncle, who's number is not listed, nor was he on any of my military paperwork. Jeffrey called asking about my grandmother, who passed away a few weeks before I left the service. Jeff then asked about me, to which my Uncle told him he had no way to get ahold of me, and jeff said he would take my uncle off the calling list. I called 1-877-819-7774 ex#244 and did not get a chance to speak with Jeff, but left him a number to contact me. I now feel this is a mistake after researching this company.
First off: I have NEVER had any type of loan, outside of college.
Secondly: When I was in college, my grandmother had already since passed, so she is not on that information for Sally mae.
Thirdly: Why would they be contacting me through my grandmother/uncle?
They are threatening me with a subpoena, and seriously had me upset. I guess I have to wait until they start blowing up my phone with unwanted calls.
My parents received a call from Neiman, Rona and Associates about a month ago but it was a message for me...mind you, I have not lived there since 1995 and what legitimate collection company who knows the law leaves a detailed message about someone's debt on a 3rd party's phone? The message was long and unclear but what I got out of it when my dad played it for me was that they were calling from an attorney's office and there were fraud charges I needed to take care of immediately and that it was a serious matter which could have my wages garnished and charges brought against me. I did not panic because I had yet to receive anything from this comany in the mail that discussed this debt in writing or expalined what charges this person was speaking of. The message was so distorted like the person was calling from a tunnel so I only heard every other number of the supposed case number and phone number to call to clear up the matter. Fast forward to last week when I received a call from a very nice man named Paul Grenner who gave me an excellent settlement offer on the same account saying he needed my payment information by the next day because it was the end of the month. I said, let me get this straight, you need me to settle with you by tomorrow but you've only had this account since a few days ago? Not likely but whatever, I played along and told him I needed to check my finances and I would call him back. He called my work every day since last thursday, sometimes twice a day leaving very nice messages but stated that I now owe $1055 on a $300 loan I made a little over a year and a half ago but he's willing to settle for $800. I decided to google this morning when he contacted me to get my payment information on a settlement we agreed upon...although I didn't agree to a thing. These people are crazy!
