will not quit calling
I just got a call from this number today. At 8:47 pm eastern. I don't have any student loans, so they either have the wrong number or it's a scam. I didn't answer, no message was left.
NOT THE US DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION! SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!They contacted me as an employer regarding information on an employee! The US Dept. of Education does not contact you directly for garnishments...it is done by another agency!!!!!!!

Actually, it's the US Department of Education calling to collect on defaulted student loans. I am a payroll person and I have spoken with these people and have correspondence from them resulting from the phone calls requiring my company to garnish wages. If these people are calling you at home, you need to call them back or the next step will be that they garnish your paycheck and your employer legally MUST comply. The federal authorities have gotten invovled because there is so much defaulted student debt.

Then a letter with intent would come from the Federal Agency and not you or your Scam Employer, Miss Payroll. The only Federal thing I see is you and your company being sued in Federal Court with a Class Action.
Bogus "debt collection" its a scam to get your social security number. Dont provide any information.
