I applied for a card and I was called to verify info they already had. Never asked for my SS# just another number for contact. I see no issues
They called me, I was buying hearing aids from Audible which offered 18 months interest free loan thru Wells Fargo . They left a message on my recorder with a number for me to call. I was told at Audible to verify my home phone number they would call me at home.
This is a scam. I talked to a woman in person on the phone and she told me that someone was trying to open a line of credit in my name and that she wanted to talk to me in case it was fraud. She proceeded to ask me for info to verity that I am in fact me. She wanted birth dates, social security numbers etc. I told them her I would give Wells Fargo a call back to clear it up. She insisted that I should give her my info right away and even offered to pass me off to her "manager". I said no thanks and that I would google Wells Fargo contact info. At this point she became testy and tried to give me a "Wells Fargo direct line to the office". I declined an hung up. I contacted Wells Fargo. The woman there told me that the number was not a Wells Fargo number and that no one had opened an account in my name or tried to recently. This all happened on 10/5/2018.
It is Wells Fargo - I applied for credit
Caller left a message saying they are Wells Fargo. But if search the number it is unlisted. No history reports. Possible scammer.
