This is a legitimate number for Bank of America. Received a notice from my merchant that my bank rejected my order and to call 1.877.388.6581. I was a little suspicious and called the number on the back of my credit card. I was advised by Bank of America that this was one of their numbers and was transferred to that number. The gentleman who answered just told me it was an extra layer of security and he allowed the transaction to go through while I was on the phone.
I had the same message pop up after a failed attempt to make a purchase from a European online store using my US BoA Visa. I called the number, gave my information, and they successfully verified my transaction. Seems to be a legit fraud protection number for BoA or Visa.
Yes, They texted me twice on 07/28, the same, saying I requested an authorization code which expires in ten minutes, and if I did not I should call 1.877.388.6581, I called it and it sounded like Bank of America answering machine, then someone answers says his name is Carlos in Phoenix and asks me my name ,I told him my name, then he wanted my card number, I Said right, them laugh at him and hung up.(SCAM)
A 410-21 number texted me saying I requested an authorization code which expires in ten minutes, and if I did not I should call 1.877.388.6581, this is not an official number listed on Bank of America’s website, this is likely fraud.
