Government Scam Robocalls

Calls where people pose as a government agency in order to extract your personal information are known as "government scams". These calls consist of scammers who are trying to manipulate the person to steal money from them or steal their identity. One of the most common impersonations is of the IRS, where the caller will say you are wanted for not paying your taxes or committing tax fraud. These calls can be very convincing, as they usually will have your full name and street address, but do not let them fool you. They will usually ask for your social security number and your bank account information in order to commit a crime against you. Other government agencies that people usually pose as are police departments, the FBI, CIA, and Social Security Administration. These calls will usually consist of the caller threatening to put you in jail if you do not listen to their instructions. If you are unsure if you are talking to a real government agency, hang up the call and call the agency yourself. Confirm with them that you are not wanted by them, so you know if the call was real or not.

They call at least once a day, sometimes twice. This in spite of having them on an automatic call blocking.
