My call sounds like all the others on this board. Indian accent with call center sounds in the background. Said he was with Windows. Told him I did not have a computer. He hung up. Scammer.
My call sounds like all the others on this board. Indian accent with call center sounds in the background. Said he was with Windows. He named an email address I haven't used in over 8 years and said others had singed 11 devices into my internet network using that email address. He said they are accessing my Internet service through my Windstream router. I normally just hang up on these guys, but he got my curiosity up when he gave an old email address I used to have. He tried to get me to open my computer and tell him what devices are showing on my Internet connection so his firm could identify the fradulant ones and remove them from my service. I told him that was a nice little scam he was trying to pull and hung up on him. He called me back and sounded all concerned that I was going to end up being charged for others using my network. I finally told him to f--- himself and hung up again. He called me a third time!!! He said he had contacted his tech desk and they said they could see my network on line and I needed to take action immediate action to stop the people who were accessing my internet service and signing up new devices. I really unloaded on him this time before hanging up. I need to remember to just hang up immediately. If you listen any time at all, it only encourages them to try and work you. Jerks.
Caller, from Windows support, said I had 67 computers on my internet account. Knew my email & first name. Told him he was a f- crook and I would keep him on as long as I could to keep him from calling others. Got upgraded to a supervisor (same man) 4 times asking me to stop abusing them. Told them they called me and I could abuse them all I wanted. He said he would report me for abusing him. Told him I would wait while he did. After 13 minutes he finally hung up on me. Sometimes I play along and act worried, anything to waste their time and make them hang up on me.
Same for me. Said he was a representative from Norton Security software and that there were 11 people illegally using my internet connection. Got mad and hung up when I wouldn't tell him when I would be able to check it out. I reported this scam and his number to Norton.
Indian accent, call center background noise. Claimed there were 8 computers on my internet line. I told him thats ok, everybody's welcome to be on my line. He told me that that was not ok and that I would have to pay him $200 on the spot, and asked for credit card number. I hung up at this point.
