OK, I just spent almost an hour on the phone with chase trying to find out if this was real. I owed 29k+ they wanted to settle for 1200...I was like heck yeah! But after looking the number up, I was leary. So I called chase...they said that the account number didn't exsist under my social security number...she looked for 44 minutes. So I hang up and call chase home equity....was on the phone with them for 10 minutes...at the end I asked if I could give them a phone number and if they could tell me if it was associated with chase. He said no, that there were TONS of numbers and he had not access to a directory. He says that he will give me the number to the recovery department. Guess what!?! It's this phone number. 877-836-3040. I called them, set up settlement arrangement and am removing almost 30k from my credit for 1200$.

If they call you, they are real. If you ignore them long enough, they will send you a bad ass settlement offer.
