I have been getting calls from this number the past week and was not able to answer them but finally I did. It was a man with a Indian accent and said he was from "Microsoft" and that my computer had been tried to hack over 2000 times and proceeded to ask me to turn on my computer. While he was trying to give me instructions I asked him if he could be a hacker and could be just posing as a Microsoft employee , he stopped talking then proceeded to give me instructions like he didn't hear me. Then I looked up the number on Bing over 3,480 things popped up one of them being this sight so I read some of the post wile he was still talking to me and thought that is similar to what is happing to me. So I confronted him and said that I searched the number on Bing and it said it was a scam. He hung up the phone then I started writing this

Got a call from this number. It was a robo-call supposedly from Chase card services telling my my account has been locked, and asking me if I want to unlock it. Well, since I don't even have an account with Chase, naturally I went along with it. I pressed 1 to unlock my account. I was next prompted to enter my "16-digit account number" to which I continuously entered nonsense numbers. I was hoping to baffle the robot until a human answered because, well, calling a robot a c_nt just isn't as much fun. Eventually the robot just hung up on me. Dammit. Anyhow, whoever owns this number has apparently caught on that the thick Indian accent is a dead giveaway and is now using a computer program with a (robotic) American accent. Also, per what others have said about this number, it does show as being a US number on caller ID which of course means nothing. If I wanted to I could get an IP address and phone number that would show up as being from North Korea or anywhere else for that matter provided I wanted to pay for it. I tried calling the number back but got a generic message from my cellular provider that "the call cannot be completed as dialed" so I guess it's an outbound-only number. No fun for me today. :-(

It goes without saying that anyone who calls and asks for you to enter your entire card number as a means of verification is a criminal running a scam. I would hope that nobody would be stupid enough to fall for this but undoubtedly some dumb or naive person is going to give their card number and PIN and will get their account cleaned out by these pieces of excrement. I wish I could hit the scammers in the head with a machete about fifty times, but oh well. Sometimes the bad guys do win. Otherwise there would be no point in being a bad guy.

Person claimed to be from "Windows Support" and said my Gmail account was being used for "illegal purposes". If that were true, I'm sure the FBI and/or Google would be contacting me. Also claimed that he had all my computer information, so I asked him to verify the IP address, which he gave as 198.162.1.2. Since that is a public and not private IP, I ran a who.is search and found that it is assigned to a college in British Columbia. Even if he correctly said the private range of 192.168.1.2, he was still wrong, as I don't use that range.
