Automated voice mail messages, never able to connect to a live person

They harass my family members; they seemingly have no boundaries

j&p called my work number today which is an absolute NO. I am reporting them to the attorney general for the state of ohio. The bill they are trying to collect needs to be billed to Medicare and I have let them know this but the insist on harassing me non stop

Would any legitimate collections agency really never leave a message when they call? Or tell you who they are if they do get you on the phone? Or won't give you details on the debt you owe? This company harrassed my Mother for weeks and scared her half to death with claims that the sheriff was on his way to arrest her because she owed $5000 on an old debt. They tried to get her to pay $2000 to settle it. They claimed she owed a debt from JP Morgan Chase and Citibank. I had her give them my number since I control her finances (I don't but thought this would get rid of them). I actually got a call back, which I thought was bold. Anyway, they represent a law firm but aren't lawyers. And when asked which one, he took a few seconds to answer like he had to come up with a name. I asked which account numbers, he gave them to me. I said, ok, let me look into this and call you back. He said no, there was no way to call him back. this was a courtesy call to avoid my Mother getting arrested. So I saI let him talk for a while then said, look, put this in writing and send it to me and I will mail you a check. Nope, he said that was already done and they aren't doing it any more and I had to pay over the phone. I told him politely where to go and if he called again I would put him on with my lawyer. He grumbled something and then hung up.

Pull your credit report. None of this was on my Mother's credit reports. The account number they gave was an old one that my Dad had in his name from 7 1/2 years ago. Funny timing, since 7 years is statute of limitations on debt in Michigan.I suspect they find accounts that are over 7 years delinquent and then try to scam people into paying them something. But do not worry, JP Recovery Services is an outright scam and you can tell them where to go or just block their number.
