02/05/20-reporting suspicious amazon account charge
The call I received was 011-888-280-4331 (on the caller ID), which is an outside U.S. call. He had an Indian accent, was speaking from a call center. Said there was a suscpicious purchase on my amazon account for $750 a couple days ago, for an HP laptop, originating frmo Texas. He asked me to go to www.teamviewer.com. Said that he would need to get into my computer to block the purchase and make sure this couldn't happen again. When I asked why I couldn't see the purchase on my account he said it was blocked because it was suspicious. When I asked why the same number had called me a week ago, and also 3 days ago, he said the calls couldn't have happened because this purchase had only happened a couple days ago. When I finally started pressing that I was suspicious about what he wanted to do he hung up.
I just called Amazon and they checked my account. There was NO suspicious activity on my account nor had an expensive I-phone been ordered on my account as the caller stated. This call came up on my caller ID as "AMAZON".
They used the 888 280 4331 number, el Salvador and name of Amazon.
Just got a call couldn't understand all of it but I knew it was a scam as soon as they told me if I didn't do something my debit card would be charged something like $249 and if I wanted more information there was a phone number I didn't write down to call.
