got a text to check BOA account with number not affiliated with them. SCAM

Received this text message:

"Free Text Alert! Please call Bank of America at 888-639-9884 about your account. Press the SEND key on your phone to call now. To end alerts reply STOP."

I called back and they wanted ALL my info: account number, social security number, date of birth.... THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!!

I called BofA after speaking with them - they provided my account information (I refused to verify), all accurate including payment history etc...

Got agent information and called the number on the back of my card, verified that this is a legitimate service, they are making offers of this kind, and that the person who called me is an employee in the same department.

No need to be concerned - even if it seems a bit fishy.

I received a text msg from this number stating I needed to contact 1-888-639-9884 for account info. The person on the phone tried to obtain my acct number, social, and mother's maiden name. I did not provide information to these people, HOWEVER THEY DID HAVE INFO REGARDING MY ACCOUNT! They offerred to lower my interest rate in return for not using the account anymore. I terminated the call and called BOA's custumer service from their website. I was informed this IS a scam!!!!

I received a TXT message, saying:

This is a third party somehow affiliated with Bank of America. I called them, but did not provide any personal information to them. I told them, that I initiated the call to an an unfamiliar number, so I wanted to get in touch with them through the normal customer service line. They said, it is not a problem, but provided me with a different number: 888-328-9458.

I called Bank of America, and they informed me, that normally they DO NOT contact their customers this way, but then I talked to someone at the credit card department, and they gave me the same 888-328-9458 number to call them back directly.

So it means, this might be a legit service, but I would advise anyone to call the NORMAL Bank of America number.
