Person with Indian accent called to state that Microsoft received a message that my computers have error reports and possibly malicious software downloaded on my computer. I never contacted Mictrosoft - this is a scam.

began getting calls from this number about two weeks ago. I do not answer unknown callers and they've never left a message, but the calls persist, sometimes 6-7 per day

Called saying I had serious virus, it needs to be checked out. It was affecting other people's computers.

Today,12Feb13 7:12 pm,I received phone call,my CallID showed:Toll-Free8886816925.It was male voice saying called MAX FOSTER,speaking English as Indian origin,to be Microsoft certified tech, working for "Microtech Support", microtechsupport.com He offered free diagnosis PC, but I have to pay to clean it, pulling Virus in Internet. He threatened to me: "If I do not accept his service, then he will disconnected my Internet connection, forever, no matter what ISP I have." When I asked him: "how he got my phone number"?, he said: "International department Microsoft" provides all the detailed information of all users of Microsoft,to "Microtech Support".
This is 3rd time I received same calling. The last time I made the complaint to DON'T CALL REGISTER on May 22,2012.I received a similar call that day at 4:11 pm from the phone: "124-352-1256", which was a repeat of a calling prior received: May 9, 2012 at 6:19 pm, but I have no knowledge of the results of that investigation.

Same problem as other commenters. Man with thick Eastern Indian accent called and said he was calling from Microsoft. He said I had a problem that he wanted to tell me how to correct. I asked how he would know if I had a problem and had he accessed my computer. He said Microsoft gets reports and knows which computers are infected.
I asked for his callback number for my doorbell had just rung. After checking this phone number on the Internet, I discovered it was a scam as I suspected. Give them no information and hang up.

-2- He pronounced English as spoken by Hindus
-3- He offered support because he said: "My computer sent viruses to his computer

Same scam. Tried to get me to download an application so they could control my computer. I have a CISSP and smelled scan from the moment he said they were working for Microsoft. I asked him for the IP address reporting the problem (my computer) and he said it was confidential. I then asked him for the last octet of the address (knowing he was full of it) and he had no idea what I was talking about total scam - they are simply trying to get full access to your machine for confidential files and to get passwords, financial data and to drop a bot in to help them with their botnet. And the reviewer "Jackie Watson"? Just one of the scammers trying to build a defense to make sure that some vulnerable people might still get tricked. In the world of review sites they are called "reputation managers" and they work FOR the scam company.
