They say I need to renew my Microsoft license key. It is a scam.
THey just called me. Work me up from a very needed nap..I called number back, and since it was an 88 number, I was surprised to hear the same voice. When I asked further questions, he disconnected from me..I called again and asked more and he asked if I was by my computer, I said no.
So, I went on line and found the scam number and THEN called him back. He got all indignant when I said why did you call me, this is a total scam. His reply was WHY THEN DID YOU CALL ME BACK. HE ASKED THAT 3 TIMES. He stated his name was Mike. the number he called on was 888-695-0555. Looks like the same person calling, though there were other callers in the background. Someone has to arrest these scammers. is last threat before I hung up was "Fine, you don't care when your Windows shuts down, that is up to you. I am trying to help you. I told him I have owned a computer for 20 years and never heard of such a ridiculous thing, then said I was reporting this and hung up.
just called and said it was urgent, my windows license is due to expire today. What a fake!!
Repeated calls leaving idiotic message about some delusional expiration, with attempt to make this sound suddenly urgent. Used *69 to get number. Dialed, and got a human voice immediately. I knew from the start that this was fraud, but if you didn't, you would realize it upon hearing a live operator answering your call. Members of public receiving this attempted scam should ignore, but I really, really want to file an official complaint as well.
My Microsoft license has expired. Oh woe is me what shall I do?
