Mr Ray said our payments are $10,000 less than usual and wants proof of payroll & payments. In the 37 years at this company, I have never received a phone call from the IRS notifying me that there could be a potential problem. Every time I asked for something he would tell someone what I was asking for and they would tell him what to reply. Mr Ray will not email me his request or give me any figures proving that he can see our account. When I told him I needed proof of who he was before I could send documents, he said you called me. I replied only because our President requested I handle this. Mr Ray then said I had no authorization to speak to him so I asked, “would you like me to put him on the line to authorize it?”. At that point he said we’d just have to come into the office. I asked for the address. He said 8701 before someone stopped him. He then said he could send me a letter with an appointment date for our President to come in and talk with him. The letter would have the address. I said that was fine.
Mr Ray gives a phone number of 281-721-7434. However, when he calls back the caller ID shows US GOV 901-214-2999. When I looked up the number online I found this website https://findwhocallsyou.com/9012142999. Within the comments it had this website tas.tx.houston@irs.gov. HOWEVER, IRS warns of new phone scam using Taxpayer Advocate Service numbers. https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-warns-of-new-phone-scam-using-taxpayer-advocate-service-numbers

IRS DOES NOT, NOT, NOT CALL TO TELL YOU ABOUT BILLING OR TAXES DUE. THEY SEND LETTERS WITH A RETURN CALL BACK NUMBER. THE IRS TELEPHONE NUMBER TO CALL FOR INFORMATION IS 800-829-1040. IRS HAS HAD THIS NUMBER FOR DECADES SO IF YOU NEED TO GIVE THEM A CALL. BUT THEY DO NOT COMMUNICATE BY PHONE UNLESS YOU ARE THE ONE THAT INITIATES A CALL TO CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY SEND YOU LETTERS. AND DO NOT ACCEPT LETTERS WITH MIS-SPELLED WORDS OR NON-SENSE WORDING. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. YOU CAN ALKSO GET INFORMATION AT www.irs.gov
Identify as US Government. I believe this is spam.
They called claiming to be Taxpayer advocacy but no message and weird recording
