The call never specifies WHO the call is for. Listen carefully and you'll hear internal revenue serviceS. The government agency is internal revenue service.
Lastly, I think the IRS only communicates in writing on official business.

Called me on 15 January 2016 at 2:03pm. I didn't recognize the number so I let it go to voice mail. Checked the voice mail: It was an automated voice that said final notice and will be filing a lawsuit against me. They didn't provide my name, phone number, address, social security number, NOTHING. I knew something was wrong. I called them back, some Asian male answered with poor english, so I just hung up.

I received phone call from automated voice saying they were the IRS and there would be a law suit about a debt owed which of course isn't true so BEWARE! I never called the number they said to call so neither should anyone else! CAUTION!

The broken English, lack of any indication that they knew who they were calling, and "final notice" when this is the first I've heard of it, and lack of any written correspondence were clues to me that it's a scam.

I just received a call from this number and it was a recording stating that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me and to call 901-438-7982. I did not call back because I figured it was a scam.

I got a msg on my cell today from this number. I knew it was a scam. But i called. IRS in Memphis, TN They did not identify my name properly. I let them go on then hung up.

I got this automatic message stating that IRS is taking me to court so I called back and a guy named Sef answered. He quickly provided me with his license number. Also he threaten me that if I dont make a payment now IRS will come and seized all my asset. He wouldnt let me hang up the phone until I gave him my type of payment. I told him I needed to talk to my husband and hung up.

I received this very threatening call today as well. They left a voice mail message. "Hello. This call is officially a final notice from IRS the internal revenue service. The reason of this is call is to inform you that IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. To get more information abou this case file please call immediately on our department number 901-438-7982. I repeat 901-438-7982.

I received the same phone call at 5:45 AM this morning! Said exactly the same thing! I wait a couple of hours and called back - needless to say he wanted information. Of course I did not given it to him. I read him the riot act saying I'm a lawyer and I'm going to report them to the BBB! Then I said some very colorful words! The IRS will never call you just like the police of fire department asking for money! Please let people you know about this SCAM! Maneuver give your name address or phone number to anyone!

I got this phone message from this number pretending to be IRS. An automatic message was left for me stating that IRS will be taking me to court. I call the number back and this guy named Sef answered. He threaten me that all my asset will be seized if I dont make a payment now. Thus, he told me not to hang up unless I made payment arrangements.

The idiots just called my cell phone but they call my house all the time and they even threatened my fiancee. This BS needs to stop! If the FTC knows who these bastards ARE, then they need to go after them NOW!! Next time, I'm going to set the sob's up and they WON'T like my solution!!
