Annoying

This number called and left a messagecthat somebody from my home owes money when that person doesn't owe any money. This is a scam!

I was working at my desk and I didn't hear my cell phone and noticed the red light flashing so checked my voice mail from a Krystal Astrologal (sp?) from 905-819-8939 or 866-463-9161 x6323 advising it is an important call for my spouse and that she would only be in the office until 1 pm today it being a Friday. We have separate mobile numbers that we live off of. I called back as it sounded important and I figured I would give it a call back for sh*ts and giggles as I instantly knew it was a debt collection agency.

So I rang up her extension and she answered the phone. I played dumb and thought it was about my resume. She said no I was asking for *********. I said no my name is ********** and she said oh well her mother told me that this was her #. I immediately pounced on that (trigger) and told her I was **********'s spouse and that I was and there was no number for her to be reached at and they were not to call me back and that I would file a complaint with the Ontario Ministry of Consumer Services, Consumer Protection Branch; And if they had any intention to sue that they should do so. She then proceeded to tell me standard industry boiler plate yada yada yada. Don't care, don't legally owe it.

I know this agency would not sue as the amount is small (under $10k) and even if they did, as I filed a joint consumer proposal with my spouse it would be laughed out of the court house as the debt was incurred before the settlement and also outside of statute (2 years in Ontario). I just don't want the calls.

A collection agency may not:

Contact you if you send a registered letter to the agency saying that you dispute the debt and suggest the matter be taken to court.

Contact your spouse, a member of your family or household, or a relative, neighbour or acquaintance except to obtain your address and telephone number unless the person contacted has guaranteed the debt or you have given permission for the person to be contacted.

If I get another call Monday, then we file a complaint against them.
