Yesterday I received a phone call from my personnel manager. She said she had received a call for me from a man named James Arnold who said he was an investigator from the Bureau of Investigations, badge #1014. She said he said I needed to call him back right away or he would be seeing me at my home or work. The number he gave her is 914-202-4639. I was obviously shaken up and disturbed by this. I returned the phone call and just left my name and work phone number. After the call, I realized there was no name on the voicemail and then I started getting suspicious about the validity of the call. I did some research and found this phone number has been reported as a scam - someone trying to impersonate an FBI agent to obtain access to bank accounts and ultimately money. Some people said the same man continued to call their work trying to get more info and sometimes using threatening language. I notified my bank and also filed a report with the FTC. The bank manager said this is one of the newest scams. The man never returned my call as of yet.
