threatening message saying i had arrest warrent out on me for back taxes .stated he was officer john adams. wanted to know if i had suffeciant funds to pay,and that he was notifying local police.
A guy with an indian accent called going by the name of Officer John Adams. He said I was going to go to jail because someone had a compailnt against me. Also stated that it was unbailable and I should contact my lawyer. He tried to contact me twice. He knew my name.
He called me. He knew my name and address. He spoke partly in Hindi. So he probably is from (more likely) North India , Less likely, from Pakistan or Nepal. He may be targetting people from that part of the word.
I told him I am recording the call. He said I will be arrsted and hung up
Got a call from them again threatening me with a lawsuit. I asked what federal agency they report into and he made up an agency I've never heard of. He told me the cops would come - I welcomed that and told him when they do I would report him. It sounds like he's calling from a call center room so his entire story is not believable.
Anyway, what I don't understand is why these people still in business? They're impersonating a cop, threatening people with lawsuits, demanding payments, and scaring people into giving personal information. Has this made it to national news? They should be arrested and out of business.
Caller did not identify himself, carried a slight to moderate Indian accent, and mentioned that an arrest warrant had been placed on two accounts: 1) failing to pay income tax in 2010, and 2) a count of collateral fraud. He also said that the government would rescind citizenship and that my passport had already been cancelled (both of which I know cannot be done for a missed payment of tax) and rattled off some case numbers and such. He requested a cell phone number by which I could be contacted so that he could talk to me on an unmonitored line. Upon asking to let me do some research, he connected me in a 3-way call to a "police officer" at which point I simply put down the phone. After that, I received continuous phone calls for a couple minutes with no caller ID at all.
