I got the same call. I can't even figure out what the scam is, but clearly it's a scam. hang up.
I tried calling the 941-220-8329 number back and it wasn't a working number. Called the number back 870-355-1316, the number that they called from and they said that the IRS has filed a suit against me. I told them that was not true and they said wait 45 minutes and I will find out and they hung up on me.
Got the same message, cut off on my Voicemail " ...lawsuit . Call back." I did call back. Claimed to be "IRS Investigation Department" sounded as if it were a non-native English speaker in a very crowded, perhaps outdoor environment. Asked me for my name. I refused, stating that I have received no written communication. He repeated that I needed to identify myself. I told him that they would need to send me a letter. He said they could not send me a letter at this time, and then hung up on me.
So many things wrong with this scenario. A lawsuit before an investigation? An investigation with no written communications? And how did the IRS get my phone number? A message with no case number reference? Asking me for my information ? Wow.
Claims to be from the IRS calling about a threatened IRS suit. Per my search, not a valid number and the call was originated from a cell phone.
