Call came up identified as a number from the city of IDYLLWILD, CA. (92549) A EXTREMELY thick southern accent (almost over the top/cowboy effort) said he was a police officer asking for donations. 1. The city of Idyllwild is overseen by the Hemet Sheriff's Dept, not the Hemet Police. Then he pressured for either a 50.00, 25.00 or 10.00 donation, saying the highest would do most good. He said a packet would be sent, but needed amount/to paid NOW, so a tax receipt would be included in the packet. He knew my PO Box address. I told him let me receive the packet, then I may consider. He then PRETENDED to put me on hold and transfer me to the DONATION department, which laughably, sounded like someone handing a cell phone to another at a dining table. The next guy had a typical CA accent, and pushed for the 50.00 donation so to include the receipt. Told him to send the packet. He said there would not be a tax receipt included. SCAM (but they both knew my PO Box) If packet sent, handing over to Sheriff's Dept for legitimacy and potential fraud.
