I don't answer calls this early in the AM... so I sent it to voicemail then Googled. After reading this I'm going to ignore all future calls.

This company from Oregon, is using scare tactics, perhaps to get us to purchase a package of some sort. I dont knw, I never went that far into the conversation.

They will walk you thru to MY COMPUTER.....Manager, ..... Event Viewer .....Custom View .....Advministrative Events.
In this Section you will see (in my case 9,756 - Errors and Warnings) many errors and Warnings. However this report is logged from the minute you purchase your computer. The woman from Oregon got very dramatic, OH NO.... Your computer will crash.

As per my trusted and reliable Computer Geek..... this means nothing. Do not worry, and ask them to take you off their call list.

Have a peacefule day

1. it is very trivial to fake a caller id and number, in other words, the number isn't real and most likely is being routed through internet just like vonage or skype. Possibly from from overseas, next door, anwhere. The phone company that switched the call from internet to normal telephone would have to track it. This company could also be anywhere. Don't waste your time reporting it to the FCC, FBI, local LE, etc. They can't track it down without a major muscle movement.

2. the caller wants you to go to a bad website. websites can have malicious code that execute just by loading a page. I'm guessing in this case the code makes computers run poorly. This is to blackmail/trick unsavvy users into giving over credit card information for a "antivirus fix" that won't work. This is called scareware.

3. keep your computer patched, enable automatic updates, use the latest browser (ie 6 guarantees malware), upgrade to a new OS(xp guarantees malware), use something like secunia psi to update applications.

4. the best solution is to record the website, do not actually go to it. then report it to on of the following:

5. Please go to my website for more information. www.evilbadmalwaresite.com

6. j/k :)
