Recording says "Do not hang up. This is not a sales call. There has been a burglar in your area. Please press 1 to talk to a rep or press 2 to be added to our Do Not Call List."

I pressed the "Do Not Call" option. EVERY DAY FOR THREE DAYS. I then called the number back (long distance, at my own expense, since I am in Canada), and was presented with another recording. "You have been called by a marketing company. If you wish to be removed from their list, please press 4." There was no identification of the company, or any option to speak to a real live person.

After following this option twice, I received the same call "DO NOT HANG UP....!, the next day.

The next time they called, I chose the option of speaking to a rep. A bored-sounding guy named "Bruce" said that he worked for a Florida company called "Home Security." He couldn't tell me why the "Do Not Call" option didn't work, nor could he give me a name or phone number of anyone higher up in the company I could call to complain.

Doing a quick Web search confirmed that "Bruce" was the usual name of the contact person at the company, and the "I don't care" attitude was pretty well universal when talking with the sales rep. I may pursue this further.

Alarm monitoring service calling on several Dept. of Defense numbers here at our facility. I asked the gentleman if he knew that he was calling government phone numbers and he said " Yeah right!" and then hung up. This number has called 2 of our 12 lines repeatedly over the last 20 days since mid March.
