Came through to my cell phone just 15 minutes ago. Didn't answer and knew it was not any of my family from overseas. Did not leave a msg. Shows the #above but no name just says "unknown". When are those a$$holes out there just going to leave us alone?

My friend called me yesterday (from his cell phone) , he is in Romania, I am in Hungary now. We talked. After 2 hours he called me again , i watched this number on my phone but he called me from his hungarian cell phone. i don't understand, what a f.... is it??

It's a call from Skype servers.

Skype is a service that allows people to make phone calls over the internet from their computers (as long as you have a microphone). This makes international calls very cheap. When I travel to America next month I will phone my parents using Skype, at a cost of 1p per minute. If my aged mother could walk to the computer it would be even cheaper - Skype to Skype calls are free, and you can have video as well (depending on your connection speed).

Because of this cheapness foreign scammers use it a lot. They might be phoning from Outer Mongolia, but the cost to them is still only 1p per minute. So it is not necessarily the same scammer (or uncle) who is phoning, as this is the number that Skype calls to and from UK numbers are routed through. That a call comes from this number MAY indicate a scammer, but not necessarily.

They want to log in so they can take control of your machine, harvest e-mail addresses, search out financial information. Just tell them you have an Apple Macintosh or a Linux box and they go away.
