The text I received is as follows:
"FRM:AT&T
SUBJ:Unsuccessful payment.Call 9312863074.
MSG:5444"

There was also a link attached, which I don't plan on clicking, for obvious reasons. I don't have an AT&T phone nor a plan with them, so this was an obvious scam for me. Reported and blocked as spam, and I'd advise anyone recieving a similar text to do the same. If you're ever in doubt about whether someone is spoofing the number of your phone company (or bank, etc), then do yourself a favor and manually dial the number you know for them and give them a call to inquire about it. Otherwise, you might end up being the victim of a financial phishing scam.

141-020-0500 is a generic number shown when an AT&T customer uses their email to send texts. I personally text this way when I'm traveling internationally because my phone plan doesn't have access to texting while overseas. I use the hotel's wifi to send texts to friends and family using my email. However recipients don't see my email address, they just see the generic AT&T number. So I can see how some unscrupulous people have abused this system by sending spam texts because they're "hiding" behind a generic AT&T number.

Asked me to take action to verify my WellsFargo account- never have had one and immediately looked up the number as it wasn't one I was used to. One of my family members was almost scammed recently so I worried for a second when I glanced over it as someone in my family does use WellsFargo. It truly makes me sick how some people actually make their living off of scamming others and just go about living their daily lives- you can actually kill people this way by taking away money for food and shelter!!! I would implore you if you are comfortable scamming people and making a living off of it, kill yourself now. The world doesn't need you and you are a waste on an atomic level.
