omg this just happened to me i got da text n i ws like yaaa but den mi mom told mi it ws a scam so i ws like wateves den a couple of mins ago they text mi again sayin i hve within 24hrs to claim mi gift card n i went t mi mom n told her it ws real but she said no n here i am now

I got the same message, BUT the name it was addressed to was my ex from three years ago. So I think this must be data from years ago that the company is using and nothing recent.

To block all future brightkite message, text STOP to 41414. This is from their FAQ. Someone is using brightkite (a separate service) to spam text to get you to come to their dumb website for the Best Buy giftcard thing.

I've read the recent posts regarding this message. I have not had any purchases from Best Buy since December, nor am I on Facebook or Twitter. However approx 1 month ago I did setup a new gmail acct for my new android phone - but I don't use it. Looking at the other posts asking about gmail spam, this is how I think they got my info.

I got it too. Did anyone else recently do any mail in rebates? Im thinking that's why I got this... Was a computer part I bought (not best buy)

I got the test to for 1000 on best buy and I dont use mail in rebates, I had gotten a 25 dollar gift card for best buy, I won through cokes rewards maybe thats how I got that scam text, just guessing but not sure

Same message, but all with different names in front:

I got the same text from an Isabella Straker. "Congrats (my 1st name), limited offers just gave you $999.99 towards any Best Buy products, must visit rewardgiftcards.info before Oct 20th to confirm! Reply with your msg.
Half the text showed up at 7:13 am, the other half showed up at 12:11.
NOT real thrilled with receiving spam texts as I'm very careful with who I give my cell number to...
